Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are you available on my wedding/event/portrait date?

A: I hope so!  To check specific dates, fill out a form on the contact page or email me at sandy@lakeplacidphotography.com.  Please note that I am a teacher too, so I won't be available on school days until after 3:30pm.

Q:  What are your wedding photography prices?

A:  That depends on the size of your wedding, and how many hours of coverage you would like.  Wedding packages start at $2800.  Please email me at sandy@lakeplacidphotography.com or fill out the contact form, and I'll be happy to send you a full price sheet and/or provide a customized quote for your wedding.

Q:  Do you photograph elopements?

A:  Yes!  I offer several packages, from elopements to large weddings and everywhere in between.

Q:  What about proposals, engagement sessions, families, and senior portraits?

A:  I photograph all of those!  Please contact me for pricing and availability.

Q:  Will you travel outside of Lake Placid?

A:  Yes.  Weddings farther than 50 miles from Lake Placid may have a travel fee.

Q:  How much experience do you have photographing weddings?

A:  I have been photographing weddings since 2006, and have shot around 200 so far.  Even though that's a big number, I still do my best to make a personal connection with all of my couples, and see every wedding as a new and unique experience.

Q:  Do you have a second photographer?

A:  I usually work alone, but a second photographer is available for a fee.  I will occasionally bring an assistant as well.

Q:  How long will it take to get my wedding pictures?

A:  Every photograph is individually edited, and I want to give you the best pictures possible.  10 "sneak peak" photographs will be emailed within a couple of days after your wedding.  The rest will be delivered via digital download and/or USB/USB-C flash drive within 4-6 weeks.

Q:  How many pictures do you take at a wedding?

A:  Tons!  I do my best to capture as many details, people, and happenings as possible.  Then I edit out anything with people blinking, unflattering shots, and anything weird that I don't think you want to deal with. The number of photographs you will receive depends on the amount of time I photograph for, the number of people in the wedding party, number of guests, events, etc.  For a full-day wedding package, expect to have 800-1000 photographs delivered after final editing.  For an elopement, the average is 100-200.  Small weddings and 1/2-day packages fall somewhere in between.

Q: What kind of equipment do you use?

A:  I use a Canon R5 and two Canon R6 mirrorless cameras.  My lens collection includes all Canon: RF 70-200mm f/2.8, RF 28-70mm f/2.0; 85mm f/1.4, 50mm f/1.2, RF 35mm f/1.8 macro, and 100mm f/2.8 macro.  My lighting kit has 3 Godox V1Cs, 2 Godox v860iis, and 2 triggers, along with umbrellas, stands, soft boxes, and reflectors.  I shoot raw images and edit them in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Q:  Do you do any video work?

A:  Nope.  I only specialize in still photography.

Q:  How do I book Lake Placid Photography for my wedding?

A:  Contact me about availability, pricing, and any other questions you might have.  If you decide to book, let me know and I'll send a contract.  You are officially on my calendar when you e-sign and submit your contract with a $600 retainer fee that is applied toward your package payment.

Q:  Is this a legitimate/insured business?

A:  Yes.  Lake Placid Photography is a registered business.  I carry liability and equipment insurance, and I pay taxes.

Q:  How can I pay you?

A:  I provide online invoicing.  You can pay with PayPal, Venmo, credit card, cash, or check.
